Hanukah would not be the same for Zach and Muffin without a celebration at the home of their beloved grandmother - known to all as "Bubbe." But Bubbe's home is also a boarding house, filled with residents who insist on their own way of celebrating. Bubbe makes peace among her guests and tenants - and enhances the celebration - by telling all the story of Hanukah.

This ancient tale of the Jewish people's triumph over Greek rulers who would have them give up their religion has an immediate application to the grandchildren and their friend, who learn the importance of defending their own ideas. The kids and tenants - all portrayed through charming and comical puppets - join together in the end to enjoy the delightful Hanukah traditions of singing, spinning the dreidel, and feasting on freshly fried latkes.
