When an obviously bright young boy (Davey Fischer) has a learning disability that prevents him from being able to read, his embarrassment and chagrin are almost palpable. And if his father refuses to see his problem as something he can't help, and insists that the boy is just lazy and inattentive, his problems are compounded. One chapter is devoted to Mr. Fischer and his inability to accept any imperfection in his son. We're told why, and what he feels and thinks. This all might have been told from Davey's point of view, so that the intended audience would pay a little more attention.
